PDA With Inbuilt GPS www.smarthouse.com.au 10-04-2006

Since we take our mobiles, PDAs or smartphones pretty much everywhere, the idea of having a GPS receiver inbuilt into one is a clever idea. HP has cottoned on to the idea with its new iPAQ rx5965 PDA.

Unfortunately, the new Travel Companion series (rx5000) does not have phone functionality included. But this series of PDAs does feature an integrated GPS antenna, SiRF Star II GPS receiver, inbuilt GPS navigation software and carries pre-installed Tom Tom Navigator 6.0 maps in the flash memory, thus requiring no SD cards or Internet activation.

Popular Freeware Software Titles Available At Everything Treo everythingtreo.com 10-03-2006

Whether you own a Palm OS powered Treo smartphone (Treo 700p, Treo 650, Treo 600) or a Windows Mobile powered Treo (Treo 700wx, Treo 750v, Treo 700w), you'll find there are many useful software applications and utilities for your smartphone that are free. Rather than have our readers scour the Internet, we brought back our popular "Downloads" section. Software downloads was a popular section on our site in 2002 (where else could you find the Treo 180 updater) and we expect our readers to enjoy the new more extensive version. We've added a few of our favorite freeware applications and you can expect this library of free software to grow.

The Treo 700p vs Treo700wx: which one to buy? technologyevangelist.com 09-27-2006

I have had a couple of people ask me which phone they should buy, the Treo 700p (Palm OS version) or Treo 700wx (Windows Mobile 5 version.) This is a tough question as both have their pros and cons. I have just finished my testing of the Treo 700wx so here's how I compare them:

Headlight Restoration Kit Works Great On Scratched PDA And Cell Phone Screens prleap.com 09-19-2006

MDWholesale.com, an already very popular automotive safety oriented website and company, is announcing a new use for their already proven headlight restoration kit, restoration of scratched and cloudy PDA and cell phone screens. Display restoration is necessary as these screens are easily scratched and become worn and cloudy reducing visibility and increasing glare which can easily cause eyestrain. “Eyestrain from computer and electronic devices has been linked in medical studies as a cause for migraine headaches. The MDWholesale.com headlight restoration kit removes the scratches and worn look that can cause this eye strain and restores the screen to new again,” stated David Maillie, President of MDWholesale.com.

Car Seat for Your Treo? mytreo.net 09-18-2006

As many Treo owners already know, your car provides many great opportunities to use your Treo. You can play MP3s through your car stereo, listen to audio books, find your way around town using GPS navigation programs, and even check email (though I would recommend against doing so while driving). However, in order to do these things you really need a way to secure your Treo in a location that is easy to see, doesn't get in your way, and won't slide around if you stop quickly or take a sharp turn. What you need is a car cradle, and since there are many choices available, you need to figure out what type of cradle will work best for you.

Microsoft unveils Zune media player tgdaily.com 09-14-2006

Microsoft today introduced what the company hopes will challenge the market dominance of Apple's Ipod. Zune is the first media player in this segment to offer Wi-Fi connectivity and carries a name that will allow Microsoft to create a competing brand and product family.

Diverted Flight Cleared To Continue kwtx.com 09-13-2006

A United Airlines jet has been cleared to resume its flight to San Francisco after a security scare prompted its diversion to Dallas-Fort Worth Monday morning on the fifth anniversary of the 9/11 attacks.

The Airbus 319 with 50 passengers aboard was flying from Atlanta to San Francisco when it was diverted as precautionary security measure.

United spokeswoman Robin Urbinski says the flight was diverted after what she described as an unclaimed PDA was found on board.

Avoid "BlackBerry Thumb" medindia.net 09-11-2006

The American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) has said that "Blackberry Thumb" should now be considered a part of workplace injuries. It is a repetitive-stress injury that occurs due to the frequent use of the popular BlackBerry devices.

"The use of PDAs (personal digital assistants) is no longer limited to the eight hours spent in the workplace," said Margot Miller, president of the APTA's Occupational Health Special Interest Group. "More and more, people are depending on these devices to stay in touch with friends and family before and after the work day and on the weekends, as well as having access to work when they leave the office; that is where the heart of the problem lies."

new Windows Mobile smartphone/PDA platforms windowsfordevices.com 09-07-2006

Taiwanese ODM (original design manufacturer) HTC on Sept. 7 announced a portfolio of four new Windows Mobile 5.0 handhelds. The devices are intended to appeal to new audiences and market segments, and will be offered under both HTC's own brand and in customized operator-specific versions, according to the company.

Be online when you’re offline with your PDA blogs.totalpda.com 09-05-2006

So you have a PDA but you don’t have Wi-Fi, or you just don’t have access to the internet everywhere you go - what’s the answer? Webaroo. Not only is it a satisfying word to say, this software allows you to download vast quantities of the internet onto your PDA, laptop or even home computer. The pages appear just as they would online, and update next time you reconnect to the internet, and will load faster than your average connection. You won’t be able to fit the whole web on your PDA, but Webaroo can focus on the subject(s) that you specify (according to T3). They provide “web-packs” that contain hundreds of thousands of relevant web pages on a subject of your choice that you can carry away with you and view whenever you want to.
