Following up on last month's release of SplashID v. 4.0, SplashData has posted the first new version of their SplashWallet Suite in nearly 16 months. SplashWallet 7.0 brings the new SplashID 4.0 version onboard alongside carryover versions of SplashMoney, SplashPhoto, and SplashShopper from last year's version 6.1. |
| New Version of Google Maps for Palm OS Released www.palminfocenter.com |
07-09-2007 |
Google has quietly released an updated version of their popular Google Maps Mobile app for Palm OS-based devices. While Google's mobile map page does not indicate actual version numbers, a download and quick check of the Palm OS PRC file does indicate that a new version, 1.2.0.8 has been posted within the past few days.
On the Google Mobile Maps Treo-specific page, Google hints at speed enhancements in this latest version, along with real-time traffic reports and detailed directions. Google also touts "shorter startup time" and "stylus integration" as enhancements in this latest version of the app. |

| TreoMemo for Treo 650, 680, 700p, 755p www.treocentral.com |
07-05-2007 |
Quick, jot some quick notes for that staff meeting, and dont forget to call your friend with the swim meet results and the coachs number. This is a job for (drum roll)TreoMemo. Yank out your stylus and lets have a look.
Youre probably already familiar with the Memos app that came with your Treo. It works. Beyond that, however, it leaves something to be desired. It has little support for looking up information in the Contacts database, and if you want a reminder of something to do, its definitely not the unit of choice better off with Calendar, which doesnt have much as immediate support of explanatory text or notes, and doesnt integrate with Memos even a little bit. |
| Your Treo has an inner voice mytreo.net |
07-03-2007 |
The range of possibilities for two-way voice interaction with a Treo smartphone really intrigued me. Voice on the Go provides hands-free and eyes-free use of email, contacts, calendar and other content. By listening and speaking, you can create, reply, forward, compose and delete emails. Other voice interactive services include traffic alerts, news, stock quotes, weather, and sports.
After spending considerable time using the service, I can say that Voice on the Go is a road warrior's dream! |

| Mobi Products 1050mAh Battery for Treo 750, 680 www.trocentral.com |
06-29-2007 |
The Treo 680 cries for batteries. Frequently! The trimmed down Treo comes with a slim, 1200 mAh marvel that has, since the beginning, created a tempest among owners. Seidio offers an extra-beefy 2400 mAH extended battery at the cost of a bulge on the back of the Treo - they supply a replacement cover. That bulge causes a problem with any formfitting case, so the Treo ends up in your pocket or stashed in your purse, instead of safe in a case.
Seidio also offers a 680 battery of normal size thats a little bit higher capacity, at 1300 mAh, but no distended battery door needed. Its much higher cost, however - $34.95, versus Palms original at $24.95 replacement cost and Mobi Products entry, the subject of this review, at $19.95.
