Paragon Software has released a new Palm OS weather application, called Handy Weather. Handy Weather joins an increasingly crowded list of smartphone weather software, but brings some of its own unique features to set it apart. it has the usual weather information with support for up to 30 locations, and has three different 5-day views. It also includes animated icons, a multilingual interface and manual and automatic updating. I also includes an interesting feature that will append the 5-day forecast to your Treo keyguard screen if you wish.

A few days prior to the big announcement of the Foleo, Palm trotted out brief a press release announcing the availability of the latest in a long line of Palm-branded accessory keyboards. Despite bearing a generic mouthful of a title: the Palm Wireless Keyboard with Bluetooth Wireless Technology, this new keyboard is a surprisingly strong entry into a field that’s far less crowded than it was a few years ago.

Opera Software is starting a beta program for the next version of its Opera Mini web browser. The current version of this Java application is often used by those with Palm OS-based devices as a replacement for the built-in Blazer browser, but it can also run on many types of smartphones.

Today's post at the official Palm blog gives us an update on the Palm Desktop Vista Compatibility situation. As it stands now, the Palm Desktop is still not compatible with Windows Vista, which also leaves most third party conduits, such as Documents to Go, incompatible as well.

Palm Product Manager David Sloan says that Palm is indeed working on a beta release of the new Windows Vista-compatible Palm Desktop and HotSync Manager software. They are currently targeting a release sometime this summer.

Bagie M. George thought she would never be one of "those people." The assistant professor of biology at Georgia Gwinnett College, on the outskirts of Atlanta, explained: "You know, 'those people' who are always on their cellphones wherever they go. I had one, but I never used to carry it."
