New massage aims to treat "BlackBerry Thumb" www.msnbc.msn.com 11-15-2006

Sore thumbs after spending hours on a hand-held e-mail device? Sounds like a case of "BlackBerry Thumb" — but help is at hand.

The Hyatt hotel chain found so many of their business travelers were complaining of hand and arm discomfort that they introduced a special "BlackBerry Balm" hand massage at most of their North American spas.

Corporate spa director Kyra Johnson said guests began asking masseurs to spend more time on their hands and arms because of the growing popularity of PDA (personal digital assistant) devices like BlackBerrys and Treos.

The casing completely seals the device from elements while providing access to keypad, touch screen, volume and program buttons. This protection also saves customers from having to replace or repair their damaged units from hostile work environments.

Friday Fun - Palm's Treo Plays Supporting Role in New Russell Crowe Movie www.foxnews.com 11-10-2006

The acclaimed film director behind the classic "1984" television commercial that launched Apple Computer Inc.'s (AAPL) Macintosh computers will soon promote yet another gadget icon.

Palm Inc.'s (PALM) Treo smart phone will play about as prominent a role that a gadget can play in Ridley Scott's new film, "A Good Year," according to the filmmakers. "Every once in a while, there's a prop that helps define a character, and the Treo is his key tie to the world, his lifeline, as he decides whether he's going to commit to his new life or go back to his old one," said Fred Baron, the executive vice president of feature productions at News Corp.'s (NWS) Twentieth Century Fox.

Treos Popping Up All Over the World www.brighthand.com 11-09-2006

Most people are probably well aware that Palm Inc.'s latest smartphone, the Treo 680, is expected to be available in the U.S. any day now.

What many might not be aware of is that, in the past weeks, Palm's other Treos have been introduced in countries all around the world. (view more details)

The newest Windows Mobile-based smartphone, the Treo 750v, debuted in Europe early last month, and since then has been released in Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, New Zealand, and Hong Kong. Sprint PCS in the U.S. was the first carrier to offer the Treo 700wx, but since then this Windows Mobile model can be found in several other countries. This includes Mexico, Canada, and New Zealand.

Roughing it with a Treo 700p mytreo.net 11-06-2006

The Treo 700p is a perfect companion on outdoor adventures. The Treo has many features that make it the first piece of gear I pack when headed off the beaten path. In my opinion, anyone who is headed away from civilization should carry a cell phone in case of an emergency. While cellular service has not yet covered every inch of the globe, during my time outdoors I have very rarely been unable to get some sort of signal.

With the addition of a GPS receiver and mapping software, the Treo 700P becomes a very capable GPS system. While there are many GPS receivers and mapping applications available, I use the Seidio Navigator Bundle with TomTom Navigation 5. I chose the Seidio bundle because of its exceptional battery life. The Seidio receiver will operate continuously for 17 hours when fully charged. The Seidio receiver uses SIRF III technology which is the most advanced chipset available today.

Opera Mini 2 Opens Up Real Mobile Web Browsing crunchgear.com 11-02-2006

If you have a Java-enabled portable device and you’re not using Opera Mini to browse the Web, then you’re not using the mobile Web the way it’s meant to be used. The browser is by far the quickest mobile browser we’ve ever tested. It’s as easy to use as it could possibly be, and its small footprint is ideal for mobile devices and their limited capacity. That’s not to say it doesn’t have a few cons that keep it from getting a 100% Freakin’ Awesome rating.

Opera Mini is free and runs on the portable Java runtime, so most modern mobile phones are supported. In addition, the program itself is small, most versions being under 1 MB.

Cingular's Treo 680? crunchgear.com 10-30-2006

We just got a little email action in our inbox from our PDA/Smartphone mole who has pricing he/she claims is the legit, honest-to-gawd deal for the Palm Treo 680 for Cingular. You can get yours for less than $200 in less than 2 weeks. Sweet, yah?

Previously, this same mole had indicated that Cingy and Palm weren’t finding any agreements in the pricing of the anticipated smartphone. Palm wanted to produce a bare-bones, consumer Treo, something that would give them (and the Palm OS) the market share it’s missing. Thusly, it wanted to forgo certain software packages to save money, as certain professional features (Documents to Go, BlackBerry Connect, etc.) wouldn’t be much use to the newly forged “casual smartphone user”.

The hw6920 and hw6925 are identical except for the inclusion of a 1.3 Mpixel camera in the latter model.
